I've learned to always call the client when I'm on my way. It confirms they're home and ready, and it drastically cuts down on missed appointments.

I used to show up only to find no one home, which was frustrating. Now, I call about 15 minutes out to confirm they’re ready.

It’s surprising how many clients forget or get delayed. This little routine has really cut down on wasted time.

Clients forget sometimes. It is pretty common.

Calling before your visit saves a lot of trouble. Just a quick check can make a big difference.

Same here, but I also text my ETA.

“Hey, running 10 minutes late, should be there by 2:30.”

Clients love the heads up when you’re delayed. One client said I was the first contractor who actually kept them in the loop about timing changes.

Calling ahead plus texting updates has basically killed no-shows for me.

Texting clients the night before helps a lot. Many forget about appointments. This simple reminder saves time and avoids hassles.

I do this but learned the hard way to ask about parking too. Nothing worse than confirming, showing up on time, then driving around for 20 minutes looking for a spot.

Now when I call I ask about:

  • Time confirmation
  • Parking situation
  • Double checking the address

That last one’s saved me twice when clients gave me wrong street numbers. Better to catch it on the phone than standing at the wrong door looking confused.

Same here, but I also confirm what work we talked about. I’ve had clients remember the appointment but totally forget which job we’re doing. Now I say something like ‘Still good for the bathroom tile work at 2pm?’ when I call. Saves those awkward moments where they’re expecting something completely different.
